New Zealand is a beautiful country with unique flora and fauna and incredibly friendly residents. In 2018, I took a five-week trip through this country. If you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend it.
I gained so much inspiration here that I decided to create a series of artworks about it. And even though this series has been on hold for a while, I still have many ideas up my sleeve. Who knows, I may continue working on it again someday.
But what makes New Zealand so special? Because the islands split off long ago, the flora and fauna have evolved in a unique way. It is an island of birds and reptiles with (for the emigrating peoples who brought them with them) originally only one species of mammal (bats that mainly live on the ground). Many of these species live mainly on the ground; of which the Kiwi bird is the best known. Giant and beautiful trees, high mountains, volcanic areas and subtropical rainforests. All this and more can be found here, making it the most impressive country I have ever visited.
