Election-poster 2022
For the 2022 Leiden municipal elections, I was asked by the local branch of the Dutch Labour Party (PVDA) to design their campaign image and election poster. The slogan ‘Thuis is Jouw Wijk’ (At home in your neighbourhood) had to be central to the design. I created a customised typographic design with illustrative elements.
Christian Burgers, professor of Communication and Organisations at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Amsterdam and between 2019 and 2024 extraordinary professor of Strategic Communication (Logeion chair) at the same university, wrote the following about it:
‘Municipal elections are local elections, and the Leiden Labour Party works that perfectly on this striking and bright red poster. The layout is visually strong and nicely constructed, and strongly ties in with the slogan ‘At home in your neighbourhood’. The Labour Party places itself at the heart of the poster and thus at the heart of the neighbourhood. Good too is the finish, with some prominent Leiden buildings. This poster is a hit.’
